LO STUDIO - ALMA MATER STUDIORUM

The Studio of Bologna was characterized by studies on Roman law, which he had preserved the memory and the tradition during the long period of uncertainty that followed the fall of the Roman Empire.

Indeed, in the year 1088, established as the foundation of the University of Bologna, is a conventional date, because even before, groups of students had spontaneously dedicated to analysis and dissemination of Roman law.

Over time, the school, completely independent of local authorities, gained so much fame that attracted students from all parts of Italy and Europe.
